On June 11th, 1983 The Merchant of Venus (AKA The Fantastic Store), the grandfather store of Jim Hanley's Universe and now JHU Comic Books, opened it's doors on New Dorp Lane in Staten Island, NY. It was also the day JHU Comic Books owners Ron Hill and Nick Purpura a) first met Jim, and b) Ron began his career as a comic book retailer!
